In conclusion: I like to start fics with dialogue, but not exclusively. I mostly dump readers in the middle of the action, but occasionally I'll take a moment to set up the premise. I'm not going to include my WIPs, but both of them drop you in the middle of the action and one starts with dialogue. So the pattern continues!
